Uniform Pixel Noise, Not a Film Simulation
Vizua adds pseudorandom offsets to the browser-decoded RGB raster. In monochrome mode, one offset is shared by the three channels at each pixel; in color mode, each channel receives its own offset. The algorithm does not reproduce physical grain, dye clouds, scanner noise, exposure response, or a named film stock.
How intensity changes the raster
The 0–100 control expands the possible offset from zero to approximately the full 8-bit channel range. Values are clamped at black and white, so stronger settings can lose tonal detail. Because a new random pattern is generated on reprocessing, compare the current output rather than expecting a repeatable effect.
Output and source preservation
The selected file is not overwritten. The rendered result is re-encoded as JPEG, PNG, or WebP according to the source family. This removes metadata and profiles, and JPEG/WebP introduce another lossy generation. Keep the original when reversibility or exact color matters.

What is the difference between monochrome and color noise?
Monochrome mode adds one independently generated random offset to all three RGB channels of each decoded pixel. Color mode generates a separate offset for each channel. This is uniform digital pixel noise; it does not model film stock, grain size, scanner response, or photographic exposure.
How does the intensity slider work?
At intensity N, each channel offset is sampled approximately between −2.55N and +2.55N and then clamped to 0–255. The random pattern is regenerated whenever the tool reprocesses the source, so identical settings need not produce identical pixels.
Will adding noise permanently damage my image?
The source file is not overwritten. Vizua creates a separately encoded output in the source format family; JPEG and WebP use fixed lossy quality, PNG uses lossless coding for the transformed raster, and metadata and profiles are not retained.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
The selected image is processed in the browser and is not sent to Vizua’s image-processing server. The page can still make network requests for required code, site features, analytics, advertising, and error monitoring as described in the privacy policy.
