Frequently Asked Questions
What algorithm is used?
Vizua uses a high-quality browser-based raster resampler on the browser-decoded image. The optional sharpening setting passes an unsharp amount of 80, radius 0.6, and threshold 2 to that resize operation. Results depend on the source, scale, browser, and encoder.
Will upscaling add detail?
No. Resampling estimates additional pixels from the decoded source; it does not reconstruct genuine detail that was never captured. Sharpening can increase local edge contrast, but it can also emphasize noise, ringing, or halos.
What is the maximum output size and format?
Choose 2× or 4×. If either calculated edge exceeds 8192 pixels, the operation is rejected; device resources can impose lower limits. JPG, PNG, and WebP keep that output family. PNG uses lossless coding for the rendered raster; JPEG and WebP are re-encoded at requested quality 0.9. Metadata, profiles, exact pixels, and hidden alpha data can change.
What you can do with Upscale Image — Resample by 2× or 4×
Enlarge supported images by 2× or 4× with browser-based resampling and optional sharpening. Inspect edges and detail before downloading the result.
Upscale Image — Resample by 2× or 4× is designed for quick, repeatable work in a modern browser. The controls on this page let you prepare the result without installing software or creating an account.
How to use Upscale Image — Resample by 2× or 4×
- Select or drop the file you want to process, or enter the information requested by the tool.
- Review the available settings before processing, especially format, dimensions, quality, color, or other details that affect the output.
- Inspect the result, download the new file, and keep the original unchanged in case you need another version.
Private by design
Your files never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Tips for better results
- Start with the cleanest source available; a small, blurry, or heavily compressed file contains less detail to preserve.
- Check dimensions and format before downloading so the result matches the site, app, printer, or platform where you will use it.
- For large files, close unnecessary tabs and test one representative file before processing a full batch.
- Open the downloaded result once before sharing it or replacing an original.
Where Upscale Image — Resample by 2× or 4× fits in a workflow
Use Upscale Image — Resample by 2× or 4× for one-off adjustments or as a preparation step before publishing, sharing, archiving, or continuing the edit in another application. When batch processing is available, validate the settings on a small sample first and then apply them to the remaining files.
