Frequently Asked Questions
How does image sharpening work?
Vizua applies a five-point convolution to the browser-decoded RGB raster: the center pixel is increased while the four directly adjacent pixels are subtracted according to intensity 1–10. It is a Laplacian-style edge enhancement, not deblurring, AI detail recovery, or a configurable blurred unsharp mask.
Can sharpening fix a very blurry photo?
No. The filter can increase local edge contrast, but it cannot recover detail absent from the source. Higher values can clip channels and create halos, noise, and harsh edges. Start low, compare at full size, and retain the original.
Does sharpening increase file size?
There is no fixed direction or percentage. Vizua re-encodes the transformed raster in the source format family; content, encoder, output format, metadata removal, and fixed JPEG/WebP quality all affect the resulting size. Compare the actual files.

Tips for better results
- Start with the cleanest source available; a small, blurry, or heavily compressed file contains less detail to preserve.
- Check dimensions and format before downloading so the result matches the site, app, printer, or platform where you will use it.
- For large files, close unnecessary tabs and test one representative file before processing a full batch.
- Open the downloaded result once before sharing it or replacing an original.
